The Durcal app launches a smart watch with integrated GPS for seniors with Alzheimer’s, children and adolescents
Madrid The family care app Durcal has launched its own smart watch with integrated GPS -mainly intended for elderly people with Alzheimer’s, children and adolescents-, which allows you to see in real time where the person wearing it is, and with a connected help button with the Movistar Prosegur Alarmas receiving center , which the user can use in the event of an emergency situation.
Uneasiness, stress and fear are the main emotions felt when not knowing where a family member is. According to a recent study by Durcal, 86.8 percent of mothers and fathers become alert when they have not heard from their children for a long time . In this situation, for 98.5 percent of them it would be helpful to be able to know their exact location: 80.8 percent would relax and 17.8 percent would lower their level of unease.
Durcal’s new smart watch, aimed mainly at older people, with Alzheimer’s problems, children and adolescents, is part of the growing trend of using devices as a security element.
24-HOUR HELP BUTTON
The device has an integrated GPS that works both inside and outside the home -since it has an integrated SIM- and a help button connected to the Movistar Prosegur Alarmas receiving center 24 hours a day. By pressing the button, the operator of the emergency center will contact you and you can respond from the same watch thanks to the integrated microphone and speaker.
«We are very pleased to have a ‘partner’ like Prosegur at this stage. Having the endorsement of a company with its experience and prestige in the private security sector is a sign of trust in the Durcal watch”, says Guillem Viladomat, CEO of Durcal, who explains that the democratization of remote assistance and ease of use “These are the company’s objectives.”
Another of the main features of the watch is its functional and minimalist design, closer to ‘smartwatches’ than to current telecare devices , which “are usually stigmatizing and segregating as they have a very medical appearance,” explains the company. In addition, the device has an integrated fall detection system and measures vital signs such as pulse and blood oxygen.
HOW TO GET IT STARTED
The watch, which can be purchased from the company’s website, does not require any type of installation. Being connected to the free Durcal ‘app’, the family member can see from their own mobile where the person who wears the device on their wrist is.
In the event of an emergency, the Movistar Prosegur Alarms head office will manage the incident and send the necessary personnel, such as the police, ambulance or firefighters from the corresponding autonomous community.
“We want all families that need to care for a person to be able to do so ,” says Viladomat. “We don’t want any person to be left behind because they can’t access this type of device economically, usually at a high cost,” concludes the CEO of the app.
