INTERACTIVE TECHNOLOGY Talented interactive artist MARPI (who worked with us on the @ Digital.Decade installation) shares his latest collaborative installation Wave Atlas. Wave Atlas is an aquatic world full of artificial digital life, which users create and discover simultaneously. The more users interact, the richer and more complex this ecology will be. Using manual pinch-and-drag gestures through Leap Motion sensors or triggers through an HTC Vive controller, users create segmented swimmers that they can release in a virtual oceanic expanse.
Once released, the creatures play, evolve, and interact, glowing sculptures in a digital stream. The creatures in Wave Atlas are inspired by nudibranchs and lush sea dragons, marine animals with striking color patterns, and a surprising variety of shapes.
